In partnership with Cranfield University RAVMAC has successfully conducted a study into the viability of using precision thermography on National Gas Pipeline Inspection Gauges (PIGs). As National Gas transitions into Hydrogen there is a potential for thermography to provide a more accurate and precise data leading to the location and dimensions of pipeline defects.
A proof of concept and laboratory demonstration was conducted at as per the project aims and successfully demonstrated defect detectability on carbon steel pipeline, in multiple different configurations, using infrared thermography.
